These rules are applied automatically by the app based on the exact time between cancellation and the scheduled event start — not calendar days.
How payment works first
When a lister accepts your request, you pay an initial booking payment: 10% of the rental amount, with a $25 minimum (never more than the total due). The remaining balance is charged automatically to your saved card 48 hours before your event starts. If your event is within 48 hours when you pay, the full amount is due immediately.
If an accepted request isn't paid within its payment window (up to 24 hours, shown in the app), it expires automatically and nothing is charged.
If the renter cancels
168 hours (7 days) or more before the event start: full refund of everything paid, including the booking payment.
Between 48 hours and 168 hours before the event start: refund of everything paid except the booking payment, which is kept.
Less than 48 hours before the event start: no refund.
Refunds are calculated on money actually collected. If only the booking payment has been charged, that is the most that can be refunded or kept.
If the lister cancels
You receive a full refund of everything you paid, including the booking payment, no matter when the cancellation happens.
If a balance payment fails
If we can't charge your saved card for the remaining balance, the booking becomes overdue and you'll get a grace period (shown in the app) to update your payment. If it isn't paid by the deadline, the booking is cancelled and the booking payment is kept.
Where a kept booking payment goes
When a booking payment is kept after a renter cancellation or non-payment, the lister receives their share of it (minus Pop Over's fees) as a transfer to their connected Stripe account, released 24 hours after the scheduled rental end.
Withdrawing a request
You can withdraw a booking request any time before it's confirmed — while it's requested, in discussion, or awaiting payment. Nothing is refunded because nothing has been charged yet (or any payment already made is handled under the rules above).
